by Kassay Tamás

Wizz Air announced today that its fleet has expanded to 200 aircraft with the addition of its latest plane, reducing the average age of the fleet to 4.2 years. The new Airbus A321neo model is joining the London-Luton Airport base.

Wizz Air Fleet Could Expand by Another 500 Aircraft Thanks to the advanced aviation technologies of the Airbus A321neo aircraft, they offer significant environmental benefits. The model can currently fly with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, reducing the noise footprint by 50%, consuming 20% less fuel, emitting 20% less carbon dioxide, and releasing 50% less nitrogen oxide. Due to the young fleet and modern aircraft, Wizz Air’s carbon dioxide emissions were 6.8% lower in 2023 than the previous year. The average carbon emissions per passenger kilometer, at 51.5 grams, represent the airline’s lowest annual result so far. The company is committed to further reducing its carbon dioxide intensity by 25% by 2030.

The growth does not stop there. Following the record number of passengers in 2023, Wizz Air is expanding its network further. The airline also holds the largest Airbus A321neo order in Europe, and within the “WIZZ500 ambition” framework, it plans to acquire an additional 300 aircraft by the end of the decade.

“We invest exclusively in the latest and best technology, and the Airbus A321neo ensures that our fleet remains modern and comfortable while helping us fulfill our environmental commitments. The new aircraft also supports our goal of flying as many travel enthusiasts as possible to exciting destinations across Europe, all at an affordable price,”
