St. Petersburg is finally accessible to Hungarians and citizens from 52 other countries without a visa, details below …
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev confirmed on Thursday the list of 53 countries whose citizens will be able to visit St. Petersburg with a free electronic visa from October 1, 2019. For travelers to Moscow, this option is not yet open, so anyone who has time to visit one of the 2 cities only, can do it more cheaply by avoiding Moscow and heading for St. Petersburg.
Â
The list of countries is the same 53 for which a similar scheme was introduced on 1 July 2019 for Russia’s Far East and Kaliningrad Oblast.Â
All EU countries except the United Kingdom are listed. An application for an electronic visa must be submitted at least 4 days prior to travel on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visa is valid for up to 30 calendar days and allows visitors to stay for up to 8 days. Electronic visa (e-visa) is free of charge.

What can be seen in this legendary city? For example, the Hermitage, the Church of the Savior on the Blood, the Peterhof or the Cari village. A couple of days is a fantastic experience here, but the Hermitage itself is enormous, and you could spend several days in it.
How much does it cost to spend a night there? Here you can browse a little and see the possibilities.
